Would you smile for 2,000 bars of chocolate? How about $25,000? According to Ron Gutman, British researchers found that one smile can generate the same amount of brain stimulation as each of these.

How many times a day do you smile? 10? 20? Researchers have discovered that children smile as much as 400 times per day! That is a lot of chocolaty  stimulation equivalents without all the calories.

Gutner discusses these findings and many fascinating others in a TEDTalk he presented in March of 2011 at TEDTalk Long Beach, California.

Gutman is the founder and CEO of HealthTap, a mobile phone app that boasts a community of 15,000 licensed physicians available to answer your health questions. Before this, he was founder and CEO of Wellsphere, an online consumer health company that developed the world’s largest community of independent health writers.

The video is below and it’s definitely worth 7 minutes of your time. Gutman is lighthearted and easy to watch.

After you watch it, I’m sure you’ll be looking for more chances to smile.

Enjoy! And keep on smiling! :)
