How to Keep Moving Forward

by Robert Rizzo | Twitter, Facebook,

Well, it’s Monday after a long weekend…and you had a couple of extra days to think of all the good reasons why you should stay home one more day. Sometimes it is difficult to get back into rhythm. But you need to keep moving forward. Life does not stand still.

There is a scene in the Bible when King David hands over to his son the responsibilities of constructing a permanent place of worship for God. It was a massive dream that would take years…even decades to fulfill.

So he left him with some parting words that we all need to hear when we feel like giving up or going back.  Doubtless, these words have been repeated countless times throughout history to leaders and followers alike.

1 Chron. 28:20

20Also David told Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail or forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

Notice, he does not say, use your strength. He says, “Be strong.” This implies an act of will. To decide to be firm and resolute.

And courage is not the absence of fear but the strength to continue on in the face of fearful circumstances or difficulties. Courage – Def: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. Courage implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.

So if you want to keep moving forward, you have to decide to be strong and courageous. Don’t give up. Don’t stand still. Let me be the person to tell you today to be strong and courageous. You can do it. You can accomplish your dreams. Keep moving forward.  Peace.
